Pink Curtains – Femininity Personified

Out of all the colors of the rainbow, I think it would be fair to say that pink is the one that is the most stereotyped. First and foremost, pink is considered a girls color. When a newborn baby girl is born, she is traditionally wrapped in pink, and many of her first possessions will be pink. Pink blankets, pink curtains, even pink nappies in some cases. Quite often, as that girl grows up, she will hold on to that color throughout her school years.

Boys, on the other hand, stay as far away from pink as possible (with an interesting exception that we will discuss in a minute). The majority of parents wouldn’t even dream of dressing their baby boy in pink clothes, some even going so far as to imagine it as being repulsive. Once again, this stays with a boy as he goes through school, and wearing pink to school would be inviting trouble from other kids. The one notable exception to this rule is young gay men.

Whether you agree with these stereotypes or not, one thing is for certain; pink is a stunning color, and its many different shades can be used in many ways throughout your home decor. The one thing you have to keep in mind when using pink is that you shouldn’t go overboard with it. This is true for all bright colors, as too much of the same hue can make a room uncomfortable.

Other than the girls bedroom, the other room that a lot of people use pink in is the bathroom. A pink shower curtain can make a stunning statement in your bathroom, and a lighter shade can really soften the whole room and make it seem light and airy. pink curtainsThis is a great shade to use in bathrooms that are fairly small, as they will give the illusion of more space in your room. Many people use particular scents in their bathroom that remind the senses of flowers and roses. The use of colors that represent these flowers, such as pinks and purples, can add to that effect even more.

Because pink is considered such a feminine color, the majority of curtains that you will find in this color will have a feminine feel to them. For instance, lace edging and ribbons will be utilised extensively, and they will mostly be manufactured using soft and flowing materials. There are, however, exceptions to this rule. Pink velvet curtains in darker shades can be an extremely rich addition to a room, giving it an extremely unique ambiance.

Because of the unique nature of this color, you will have no trouble at all when looking for the right pink curtain for your situation. If you do a bit of browsing online, you will find many stores that enable you to search for your curtains by color and shade. You will find a much greater range online than you would in any retails store, but the one thing you need to be careful of is that the color that you see on your computer monitor is the same as the actual color of the curtain. If possible, it’s a good idea to ask the store to send out a sample swatch of material to make sure.
